Smithville-DeKalb Chamber Of Commerce Launches “DeKalb County Works”

Smithville-DeKalb County Chamber of Commerce has launched a new website to help employers and employees get work.

Executive Director Suzanne Williams said that employers can list available jobs, their pay, benefits, and the desired qualifications.

“For employees, to be able to go to one spot,” Williams said. “It’s really sort of a virtual, online job fair. Just to be able to go to one spot and look at all of the available jobs here in DeKalb County. And anyone outside the county can check this out too.”

Williams said that the free resource came about after many employers expressed difficulty finding workers. She said that businesses big and small are able to utilize the service and that they’ve already had success since launching last week. She said employers and employees can find the service at dekalbtennessee.com.

Williams said that they’ve hosted in-person job fairs that haven’t seen the success she’s wanted. She said that this is just another tool that can help boost the community.

“It just seems to make sense to us, just to make things easier for people,” Williams said. “We’ve had a couple of really hard years. And just trying to make an easy button for people, especially if you’re looking for a job or if you’re needing to let people know what jobs are available, just to make things a little simpler.”
