Smithville Church Answering Community Need With New Preschool

Smithville’s First Baptist Church will launch its own preschool program August 7th.

Pastor Chad Ramsey said the new program will be hosted in their church complex off Church Street on Mondays and Wednesdays. He said it will offer children from 18 months to pre-K education in biblical and rudimentary principles.

“This gives us the opportunity to reach out to more people in our community and, while at the same time ministering to those young kids, showing them how much Jesus loves them. That’s really what it’s all about,” Ramsey said.

In the classroom, kids will learn from instructors with certified backgrounds in education, something Ramsey said he is excited about.

The new program will work to prepare young children for the classroom environments they will encounter in the future. Ramsey said his wife, who is an elementary school teacher, speaks frequently of the benefits of preparing kids early for their education.

“To have that head start on having your kids in an educational environment, it’s just leaps and bounds, and studies have shown, as they go through school and progress faster,” Ramsey said.

Ramsey said he learned of the need for more preschools from the parents. Many of them currently find themselves waitlisted or unable to find something that aligns with their values.

In Christian schooling, Ramsey said kids gain an understanding of the principles they will learn in any schooling capacity as well as an understanding of themselves.

“It shows and it shares those values so that people truly understand how we were created and meant to be in our relationship with God,” Ramsey said.
