The person suspected of a shooting at a Livingston plant Friday morning is dead.
Tennessee Highway Patrol Lieutenant Bill Miller said a Highway Patrol negotiation team worked to find a peaceful solution after troopers stopped the driver at I-40 eastbound mile marker 342 around 8:30am. Miller said as troopers continued negotiations, they found the person unresponsive. Miller said troopers did not fire. He said the person died from a “prior wound.”
Miller said I-40 will remain closed for “some time” as an extensive investigation of the scene will take place. Law enforcement pursued the suspect from the Hutchinson facility in Livingston where the shooting took place.
The shooting took place around 7:30 Friday morning. Two people were shot, apparently outside the plant. Overton County Emergency Management reporting that one of the two victims is listed in critical condition, while the other victim is not. One more serious victim airlifted from the scene, according to a source, to Nashville’s Skyline Medical Center.
The plant located on Airport Road, near TCAT and Livingston Academy.
As the investigation continues at both sites, little information is available. I-40 East closed at mile marker 342 with traffic being diverted off the interstate. I-40 Westbound traffic also being diverted.
