A Deadly shooting in Overton County remains under investigation by the TBI.
According to a written statement from the TBI on Wednesday, the shooting happened Sunday morning at a home on Highland Mountain Road. The statement said Overton County deputies responded to the scene and found 41-year-old Timmy Melton injured from a gunshot wound to the head.
Melton received treatment at Vanderbilt Medical Center and later died from his injuries.
TBI Public Information Officer Leslie Earhart said Wednesday that the investigation remains active and ongoing and investigators have not determined the exact manner of death.
