Clay County has opened two emergency shelters as extensive flooding continues to cause issues in the area.
Shelters have opened at Willow Grove Community Center and Cumberland River Hospital.
EMA Director Natalie Boone said water levels will continue to rise with more rain and the recent release of the Wolf Creek Dam.
Boone urges residents to be extremely cautious, especially those living near River Road, Proctor Creek, Knob Creek, Wet Mill Creek and Butler’s Landing.
Boone said those seeking shelter at Cumberland River Hospital should bring any necessary medications and medical equipment.
Residents are allowed to bring pets to the Willow Grove Community Center.
