Several Cumberland Homes Damaged By Winds, Flooding Closes Road

Cumberland County EMA reporting minor damage after strong straight line winds Wednesday.

EMA Director Travis Cole said the Lawson Road area north of Crossville was the most affected.

“We’ve been out doing our damage assessment, and so far, we have seven homes affected,” Cole said. “Only one of which we would call major damage, because some vehicles got thrown into it. Everything else is minor to moderate roof damage.”

Cole said the county has also faced some flood damage. Cole said Bear Creek Road off Highway 127 washed out and closed for the day. Cole said several other areas have minor road damage, but most are passable.

“If anybody has damage that we have not talked to this morning or we didn’t see it, please contact the Emergency Management Agency,” Cole said. “We’ll come out and get the damage reported to turn into the state.”

Cole said no injuries have been reported. Storm evidence has been submitted to the National Weather Service to determine the type and intensity of the storm.
