Several Upper Cumberland counties let their voices be heard in School Board races Tuesday.
Putnam County School Board incumbents Kim Cravens, Dawn Fry, and Lynn McHenry ran unopposed in their individual primaries Tuesday. Putnam County Republicans cast 5,640 votes for Steve Pierce in the Property Assessor voting. No one ran on the Democratic side.
On the Cumberland County School Board, current School Board Chair Teresa Boston fell to Travis Cole in District Eight’s Republican Primary. Cole taking 57 percent of the vote. Scott Vanwinkle defeated Christopher Scott Goddard in the District Two Republican Primary, taking 55 percent of the final vote tally.
In the race for Assessor Of Property, Kelli Buchannon took 58 percent of the Republican vote in Tuesday’s Primary. Sandy Gilbert finished with 41 percent. No candidate ran on the Democratic ticket.
In White County, the Republican School Board race in District Three saw John W. Smith garner 53 percent of the vote. Jonathan Burns finished with 31 percent. Kimberly Stockham at 15 percent. In the District Four primary, Terri Douglas took 54 percent of the final vote count to 45 percent for David Clouse.
Junior Jones ran uncontested in the Assessor Property race on the White County Republican ticket. He received 2,467 votes.
In District 13, Shawn Fry ran unopposed for Criminal Court Judge. He began serving in that newly created position last year.
