Deceivingly slick.
That’s how one emergency official termed roads across the Upper Cumberland Monday morning. Overnight freezing rain and drizzle with temperatures in the upper 20s have left roads looking wet but often icy.
“We advise you to stay home,” Jackson County E911 said in a Facebook post.
Road crews have been salting roads in the overnight periods. Precipitation has been rather light. More precipitation expected to develop later this morning.
If you have to be outside this morning, you are advised to use extreme care as sidewalks, porches, decks and driveways are icy.
Upper Cumberland Electric and Cookeville Electric are both working power outages this morning. Upper Cumberland Electric is working in the Brotherton Mountain area. Cookeville Electric crews are working on power in the southern grid from Jefferson Avenue to the White County line.
Please report power outages to the utility, not 911.
