Resident Worried About Miller Street Traffic

A Livingston resident concerned about the width of Miller Street, with a recently approved subdivision on the way.

The Livingston Planning Commission approved a subdivision that will increase the neighborhood from 13 to 34 homes. Citizen Ron Raine said he had concerns with the street’s width being too narrow for the amount of people that would be moving to the area. Raine said he measured the street at various points with the narrowest point measuring 16 feet wide and the widest point at 19 feet wide.

“I think that when you increase the people that live there and the traffic by 150 percent you probably should take a look at a road that’s only 16 feet wide,” Raine said. “And decide whether you want to leave it 16 feet wide or do we want to make it wider or do we want to make it one way or just leave it like it is.”

Raine said he would like the board to decide on purpose and to start preparing now for the drastic increase in traffic that will be on the narrow street.

Aldermen accepted the concern but did not act on it.
