Road to Victory Bus Tour Stops In Putnam

The statewide Republican Road to Victory bus tour made a stop at the Putnam County Courthouse Monday to encourage citizens to vote.

Members of the Tennessee House, Senate and Congress visited with voters and spoke about the importance of voting on the third stop of the trip. House Speaker Cameron Sexton said voting is a right all citizens should practice to honor those who served.

“Our military fought for our country,” Sexton said. “Defended us from communism and fascism and Nazism to protect us, and one of those rights that we have as a country that separates us from others is our ability to go vote and elect our elected officials.”

State Representative Ryan Williams said he encourages voters to go to the polls to increase Tennessee’s overall turnout.

“As you know, Tennessee is abysmal when it comes to other states as a relationship to voter turnout,” Williams said. “And so, what we are trying to do is to encourage to people to get out and let their voice be heard.”

Congressman David Kustoff said he wants to see early voting trends to continue up until Election Day.

“Think about the sacrifices that so many men and women have given, so we can have that right,” Kustoff said. “It looks like right now, there is a lot of enthusiasm across Tennessee for early voting, but we can not let up.”

The tour also stopped Monday at Cumberland County. The Road to Victory Bus Tour features 37 stops in 35 counties until October 28th.
