Representative Terri Lynn Weaver said she wants to bring back a state bill next General Assembly to address teacher shortages.
Weaver said she is pleased with the education funding, but she wanted to make it easier for teachers to add other subject areas to an existing license.
“Just to take a lot of the bumps in the road of getting your license to teach,” Weaver said. “And if the teacher wants to do another endorsement, it shouldn’t cost the teacher to forge in that direction to get another endorsement to teach in other subjects.”
Weaver said the biggest task of this General Assembly was passing the budget with uncertainties from COVID. Weaver said the investments made for broadband and infrastructure in rural Tennessee are allocations that will help her district.
