Renovation Planned For Cedar Street, Little Street

Livingston will search for a consultant to help improve the sections of Little Street and Cedar Street connecting South Church Street and South Spring Street.

Project Coordinator Ray Evans said they will be adding adding sidewalks, drainage, and pedestrian lighting to that block. Evans said they received a grant for the work about six months ago but have been waiting for the South Church Street project to get closer to completion before moving forward.

“These two small segments in between just don’t look very well,” Evans said. “And they’re not up to the same standards as the other road improvements that we’re making in and around the central business district. So you know, again, it’s a small project but it’ll have a large impact.”

Evans said they are about to start taking requests for qualifications and should select a consultant in November. Evans said his most optimistic estimate would be for construction to start eighteen months after they choose their consultant.

“With T-DOT is doesn’t really matter how large or how small the project is,” Evans said. “The hurdles are still the same hurdles.”

Evans said the restaurant and event center surrounded by those roads will also have their look and feel improved by the renovation.

“The design will probably happen fairly quickly because it’s a pretty simple and pretty small project,” Evans said. “But then we’ll go through the same review process with T-DOT.”
