Red Boiling Springs Picks Hollis As Mayor After Coe Arrest

Citizens of Red Boiling Springs have elected Kenneth Hollis as their new mayor following the arrest of current mayor Joel Coe.

The Macon County Election Commission reports Hollis received 107 votes, defeating the incumbent Coe and Terry Newberry in Saturday’s election.

The election comes after Coe was arrested Thursday by the Macon County Sheriff’s Office for criminal conspiracy and tampering with evidence charges. The 51-year-old Coe will appear in court Wednesday after allegedly arranging to pick up a pill press used for controlled substances such as Fentanyl and Heroin.

Residents also elected three members to the city council, with Linda Lee Carver and write-in candidate Robbie Wayne McGowan serving as new council members and current councilman Michael Rich winning in his bid for reelection.
