Putnam To Apply For Grant For Gentry Fire Truck

Putnam County will apply for a community development block grant to replace a fire truck in the Gentry Community.

County Mayor Randy Porter said the grant would replace a 1980s-vintage mini pumper at the Gentry station.

If approved, the residents within five miles of the fire station would see an improvement in the insurance rankings from a ten to a nine.

The maximum grant amount of $420,000 would pay for the pumper.

Porter said UCDD recommended a grant application for fire equipment after the county failed in getting money over recent grant cycles for water system improvements.
