Putnam Spay And Neuter Clinic To Restart Operations Next Week

Putnam County Spay and Neuter Clinic will begin its operations again next week.

President Elizabeth Sofia said the organization got the official notice of a transfer of assets from the Attorney General Wednesday night. She said when a non-profit wants to transfer assets such as equipment to another non-profit, they need state approval.

“It does belong to a non-profit so they just want to make sure it’s all on the up and up,” Sofia said. “So we submitted all the documentation and just had to wait for them to review it and say this looks good you can go ahead and transfer all that stuff into Wags and Whiskers’ name.”

Sofia said they hope to begin procedures again as quickly as possible after setting up appointments. She said the first order of business will be to see who still needs services.

Sofia said because the facility was closed for several months, it’s likely patients had to go elsewhere to get procedures. She said they hope to get as many people into the office as possible as quickly as possible.

“It’s incredibly exciting, I’m just absolutely thrilled,” Sofia said. “I will say I never for a second doubted it, so I’m not surprised, I’m just so happy it’s finally happening. And I’m so excited we’re getting everyone back to work here as well.”
