Putnam Schools Open Registration For Families April 13

The enrollment window for Putnam County Schools opens Tuesday for new and returning students.

Attendance Supervisor Chris Pierce said this registration welcome window is vital for families with pre-K and kindergarten students. Pierce said that students already in Putnam County pre-K should have a simple registration process if they are attending the school they’re zoned for.

“For brand new families we have online process for students who have never been in the system before or that can be done on paper, like always,” Pierce said. “Those links will be available on our website April 13, beginning in the morning and we’ll take those down April 23.”

Pierce said to check the Putnam County Schools’ website to see which school the family is zoned for. He said once a family has that information, they can contact the school to schedule an appointment for in-person registration if they do not want to do that process online.

“As long as the pre-K student is zoned for the school they are attending the process would be fairly simple,” Pierce said. “If the pre-K student is not zoned for the school they are attending, then they have to go through the process like a brand new student. To make sure they’re in the proper zone for kindergarten.”

Pierce said there are multiple resources on the Putnam County School website for parents to utilize and clarify which school their child will attend.

“Review the priority enrollment exceptions and need to make sure of where they can enroll,” Pierce said. “Always check with our enrollment zone finder application on our school website.”

Pierce said that once families know the school their pre-K or kindergarten student is attending, they can check with schools about open-house events. He said the schools should provide any dates, times and what families might need to bring.

For other schools opening up enrollment to new and returning students, those dates are available now.

Dekalb County Schools will have in-person enrollment on May 6 at the district’s elementary schools.

Van Buren County Schools will have kindergarten enrollment on May 17 and 24, families need to call 946-2171 to make an appointment for those dates. Pre-K enrollment will be on May 18-19 and the number for pre-K appointments is 946-7378 to make an appointment.

White County Schools opened its enrollment period on February 8 and applications can be picked up at the students zoned school. Families can verify where they are zoned by visiting the White County Schools website and clicking transportation.
