Putnam Sales Tax Revenue Ends Fiscal Year Up 11 Percent

Putnam County saw an 11.6 percent increase in sales tax revenue for the 2021-22 fiscal year.

Some $44 million dollars compared to $39 million last fiscal year. Mayor Randy Porter shared July’s numbers Tuesday rounding up the year. It showed $5 million in sales tax revenue.

That is almost a 10 percent increase compared to the same month last year. Taxes collected in May and turned into the state in June make up the July numbers.

The county saw the highest jump in collections for the month by 19.6 percent. The other city increases include Monterey at 12.4 percent, Algood at 10.6 percent, Cookeville at 8.8 percent and Baxter with a 1.5 percent increase.

Cookeville collected the most revenue with a total of $3.8 million. Putnam County earned $490,000. Algood got $412,000. Baxter received $123,000 and Monterey tallied $98,000.
