Putnam Planning Commission Looking To Fill Vacancy

Putnam County’s Planning Commission is looking to fill a newly-vacant seat.

Planning Director Kevin Rush said that they are looking for an open-minded, ethical individual. He said that a development background is not required.

“Sometimes it is handy to have people of different backgrounds,” Rush said. “Some people who have experience with say a water district or construction or surveying or realty firms or some other activity like that are helpful.”

Rush said that the seat opened following Ron Williamson’s resignation. He said that ideally, the seat will be filled by someone from the Monterey area to ensure equal representation for the county.

“The process is actually a fairly simple process. The county mayor will appoint a new member, and that new member has to be confirmed by the county commission. The members are set up on staggered terms, so when we replace Ron Willimaons since his resignation, the term will be for the remainder of his term. At the end of that term, either this new person will be reappointed or someone else could be appointed at this time.”

Rush said that those interested can email himself or County Mayor Randy Porter.
