Putnam Planning Approves Next Step In 65-Lot Subdivision On Buffalo Valley

A new 65-lot subdivision on Buffalo Valley Road will move forward, pending contingencies from the Putnam County Planning Commission.

The contingencies discussed during the Tuesday meeting include road adjustments, drainage easements for two of the lots, new lot stakes, and a letter of credit for $25,000. Planning Director Kevin Rush said the conditions should not pose a big problem for the project.

“It’s one of those things that just needs to be in before we can sign the plat,” Rush said. “I don’t think it’s a big issue as far as it taking another two or three days or a week to get in. It just, it needs to be in before we can sign the plat.”

The new lots will vary in size from 20,000 square feet to just under three acres. The subdivision will contain exclusively single family homes.

Developer J.P. Parks said people have been removing the stakes used to identify each lot.

“All the years I’ve doing this I found out that kids have figured out that it makes a great sword to play with,” Parks said.

In other business, the commission approved the division of 24.9 acres into six lots on Dyer Ridge Road. A four-acre Shipley Road lot will be divided into three lots.
