The Monterey Swimming Pool is now officially ready and open for the summer after dealing with pump issues.
Putnam County Parks and Recreation Director John Ross Albertson said when crews were planning to open for the season, they noticed issues with the pool’s pump and motor. He said it took more than a week to find the right replacement, which they purchased from Chicago and had overnighted.
“Generally speaking in the pool business that’s one of the most catastrophic things you can have with a commercial pool because, without the pump, nothing else operates,” Albertson said. “And then having to replumb your pump house is also a challenge in and of itself with a new motor.”
Albertson said it was disappointing to push back the opening from Memorial Day Weekend, but they are excited the rest of the season should not be impacted. He said they have already had many birthday and pool parties scheduled for throughout the summer.
The pool hours will be Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sundays from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Entry is $6 per person and free for kids aged two and under.
“We still have plenty more availability for pool parties as well up there,” Albertson said. “So if you’d like to schedule a party for your kids’ birthday or anything like that, just give us a call at 931-526-8015.”
