Putnam FD Contains Residential Fire On Broad Street

The Putnam County Fire Department contained a residential fire on the 2300 block of West Broad Street Thursday morning.

Fire Chief Tom Brown said one room was completely gutted with the roof collapsed at several other areas on the one-story home.

“A room and contents fire with one room well involved,” Brown said. “We had a crew make entry and knock the fire down. We got control of it pretty quick, overhauled the fire and it will be under investigation at this time.”

Brown said crews arrived at the scene around 10:00 a.m. with a room fully involved. Brown said as a result to the response, a portion of Broad Street was closed to traffic but has reopened.

Brown said the home owners were not home, and there were no injuries. Brown said Baxter fire crews assisted with the call.
