Putnam County’s Cassidy Holt Places In National Pageant

Putnam County’s Cassidy Holt placed second runner up in the National Miss Teen United States Pageant in Memphis.

Holt said she represented Tennessee through her platform of Alzheimer’s Disease awareness.

“I’ve had multiple family members pass away from Alzheimer’s Disease, and I feel like it is something that a lot of people experience but doesn’t get the recognition that it should,” Holt said. “I was able to speak to my fellow pageant sisters about how Alzheimer’s has affected me.”

Holt said she has been competing in pageants since she was three weeks old. Holt said this was the biggest competition that she has placed in over her career.

“It was an amazing experience for me. It was a new experience for me,” Holt said. “Competing against other individuals at this caliber of a pageant was an adrenaline rush. They have all been doing this for just as long as I have and have all been competing at this level for many years. This ranks at the very top of my pageants along with Miss Teen America.”

Holt was able to compete after an extensive application process. Holt said she was selected to represent Tennessee after the pool was narrowed down to two people.

“We submitted head shots and resumes about what the pageant system means for us and about our platforms,” Holt said. “We got to do a video call with the National Headquarters. Once that was done, they choose me and I was very grateful for that.”

Holt said the event was especially significant since it took place within the state. Holt said the pageant is usually held in Las Vegas.
