Putnam County saw a sharp increase in new building permits for March after a slow winter season.
County Mayor Randy Porter reports 31 total building permits were issued last month, the most since October in which 38 permits were issued. By comparison, only 55 total permits were issued between November and February, with 27 being single-family homes.
23 of the 31 permits for March were new single-family homes, the most in one month during the 2018-2019 fiscal year. Those homes will produce nearly $4.6 million in construction costs.
The county has seen over $30 million in construction costs this fiscal year already with 222 building permits being issued, 130 of which being for single-family homes.
