For the second year, Putnam County and Cookeville will host the Tennessee Law Enforcement Training Officers’ Association Spring Conference.
Rick Baker is Lieutenant of the Putnam County’s Sheriff’s Office.
“Putnam County is really, here in Cookeville, is the center of the state. So officers are able to meet here, just about in the middle of the state,” Baker said. “And the community is very very cooperative with us. So we just appreciate the community reaching out to us and giving us the support we need.”
The TLETOA Spring Conference includes various training opportunities for law enforcement officers across Tennessee.
“It is made up of different trainers and instructors from all across the state of Tennessee. Different counties and different cities will be represented here,” Baker said. “We will have around a hundred or more officers representing their agencies across the state.”
The conference is supported by sponsors, even though it is a state mandated training event.
Baker said the agency hopes to eventually make Cookeville it’s permanent meeting place.
“We are just looking forward, hopefully next year, to even be here and get more sponsors, so we can make Cookeville the permanent meeting place. ”
The conference starts Monday, May 14 and ends Friday, May 18th.
