Putnam Clerk’s Office Closed Until Monday

The Putnam County Clerk’s Office has closed until Monday after an employee received a positive COVID test.

County Clerk Wayne Nabors said as of Thursday, all other employees are not showing symptoms but have been tested.

“All of us have actually now just came back from the Putnam County Fairgrounds being tested, so we are all tested,” Nabors said. “Everybody has been sent home, and we will all be home and wait on the results to tomorrow.”

Nabors said Putnam residents applying for vehicle title applications and business licenses will have to wait until Monday. If you were looking for a marriage license this week, you can visit a neighboring county without hindering the process.

“We have followed business precautions as much as we can,” Nabors said. “Actually before COVID-19, we put new glass, and it is totally in cased. Even the place where folks talk through, we have microphone desk sets we talk through. We are being very protective of that.”

The county’s maintenance department will sanitize the entire building over the office’s long weekend.
