Putnam Building Permits Up, Costs Down in October

Putnam County saw another increase in building permits issued but a slight decrease in construction costs in October.

County Executive Randy Porter says 38 total permits were issued last month, up slightly from August and September. Over 130 permits have now been issued for the 2018-2019 fiscal year, with more than half being for single family homes.

Porter said the permits issued in October generated approximately $4 million, down from $5.6 million in construction costs in September and $4.5 million in August.

Despite the slight decrease in costs, Porter said the total construction costs for the current fiscal year are up about 30 percent from this time last year.
