Pickett County Schools’ new scoreboard that was recently installed is now operational.
Director of Schools Diane Elder said the 10 by 12 foot panel is located at the sports field by the high school.
“We hope to get our donated by sign on it this week,” Elder said. “The scoreboard was donated to us by People’s Bank. It is very nice and very large. It is a multi-use scoreboard for football and baseball.”
Elder said it has been an eight-month process to get the new equipment running. Elder said the new scoreboard was a big need since the old one no longer works.
“We were just trying to get some issues worked out with getting it hooked up and our signage,” Elder said. “The scoreboard itself took some time after we ordered it to arrive and finding somebody to put it up because it is big.”
Elder said football will be the first sport that will use the scoreboard next school year.
“We had one, but we were lucky if it worked,” Elder said. “We needed a new scoreboard.”
