Pickett Co. Schools Receive One Bid For HVAC Work

Pickett County Schools has received one bid for system-wide HVAC replacements.

Director of Schools Diane Elder said the price for work came in over the TVA Grant supplying the funds.

“The entire bid was over the 400 k grant,” Elder said. “But, you got to remember it has all those DOAS units. It’s got all those in there, which will not be able to replace all nine of them.”

Elder said the $400,000 also pays for LED lighting, so the number of outdoor units replaced all depends on that bid price. Elder said the other 22 smaller units will make the cut $1,700 for each.

“We still have to do the bids for the lighting, and we will see how much that will cost,” Elder said. “Once we see what the lighting total will be, we may be able to go back in and do some DOAS units.”

Elder said the Board of Education will vote on the HVAC bid during its July meeting. Elder said bids for the LED lighting are not due until after that meeting.

“We think all of the HVAC can take place during the month of July if all of the PTAC units are available,” Elder said. “We hope to have all of it completed by September 30th.”

Pickett County Schools was awarded the TVA grant in May.
