A pedestrian-involved US 70 wreck left one injured Tuesday morning.
Authorities transported 83-year-old Edna Stafford of Red Boiling Springs to Vanderbilt Medical Center after being struck by a vehicle on US 70.
Accident reports state that Stafford attempted to check her mailbox by crossing US 70 from her residence. Stafford walked across the westbound lane with her head down and paused before crossing the centerline.
Sixty-nine-year-old Robert Lobato Jr. of Baxter was traveling eastbound at the time. Stafford walked into the path of Lobato’s vehicle. According to wreck reports, Lobato was unable to avoid the low-speed collision.
The vehicle stuck Stafford with the front bumper and Stafford propelled into the vehicle’s windshield. Lobato’s vehicle came to a final rest at impact.
Officials initially transported Stafford to CRMC then flew Stafford to Vanderbilt Medical Center.
