PCSS Preparing Disabled Students For Post-School Life Through Work-Based Learning

Career education for disabled Putnam County students has grown over the years with over 100 local businesses participating in work-based learning.

Transition Case Manager Jamey Pack said his main job is to prepare students for life after school. The work-based learning helps students navigate their careers while also building experience.

Pack said the program explores career opportunities through several different avenues. Pack said the school system uses job interest questionnaires, team building exercises, facility tours and higher education field trips.

Pack said classes also focuses on interviewing skills, driver’s education and resume workshops. Pack said the goal is to give students as many tools as possible to be successful after school and maintain employment.
