Work progressing as expected for Putnam County’s new Park View School.
The School Board approved five different payments that included monthly construction dues as well as architectural services Thursday. Architect Kim Chamberlin said despite recent weather, footings have been placed along with underground sewer.
“It amazes as much rain as we’ve had, how much they have been able to get done,” Chamberlin said. “So far, the work out there is going well. No issues to speak of. We’re just glad to see them spending your money and getting the work moving forward.”
School Board Member David McCormick said he wanted to ensure that appropriate drainage would be installed at the site. The school system has faced issues with drainage in previous projects such as the Upperman baseball field. Chamberlin said that good drainage will be a part of the project.
A some $135,000 payment for a city building permit was among the items approved. Chamberlin said instead of the contractor gaining the permit, the school board would save money making the payment.
