Palace Theater Starting Christmas Movie Series This Friday

The Palace Theater in Crossville will host a five-night Christmas movie series starting Friday.

A mixture of Christmas classics and family favorites make up the line up. Operations Assistant Guy McBride said the first showing will be Polar Express.

“We have a series of movies that are popular movies that have come around through the years that have proven themselves along with a couple that people may not know,” McBride said. “We’re going to try to help them celebrate Christmas in a manor that is community friendly.”

On December 21st, you can view The Man Who Invented Christmas. Then on the 22nd watch the classic It’s A Wonderful Life. McBride said movie goers will receive a free box of popcorn with a ticket purchase.

“We just recently implemented this.” McBride said. “What happened is we did a series of movies like the Tom Hanks and Christopher Plummer series and different other shows, and they were well received. So we thought well let’s try to do some for Christmas.”

The two last showings will be Elf on December 28th and Home Alone on December 29th. McBride said the $5 ticket helps fund the Palace Theater and grow the art scene of Crossville.

“The $5 comes in there is a fee associated with showing the movie, so we have to pay for that,” McBride said. “But also, the $5 comes in, it basically goes back into a general fund to help supplement future showings.”

McBride said doors open for each showing at 6:00 p.m. with showtimes starting at 7:00 p.m. McBride said the concession stands will be open for those needing a movie snack. Palace Theater is located at 72 South Main Street in Crossville.
