Overton Sheriff’s Department To Replace Another HVAC Unit At Jail

Overton County Sheriff’s Department to replace a jail HVAC unit using new grant funding dollars.

Chief Deputy Tim Poore said the jail has about 15 HVAC units that cover individual areas of the facility. He said that includes booking, records, the administrative side, and the jail.

“This jail’s 21 or 22 years old now,” Poore said. “And a lot of those are ones that were originally put on the building so we’ve started seeing a lot of breakdowns. And when we can find the funding, we replace several along the way.”

Poore said the most recent HVAC replacement bid approved by the county commission was made possible through grant funding. He said there are about five or six units left to replace that are still original to building.

Poore said the way the market is right now, it is hard to find new HVAC units. He said when you do find one, it typically costs around $30,000.
