Overton County will be reimbursed some $639,000 in payroll money spent by Overton County Health and Rehab.
“That is the money we borrowed through the COVID that the county court voted on to use it for payroll,” County Executive Ben Danner said. “The government forgave all that, because the nursing home did use it for what they were supposed to, so that was all forgiven.”
In order to be reimbursed, 75 percent of the funds would have to be spent on payroll. During Monday’s county commission meeting, Commissioner Donna Savage said she received notice of the county completing that process last month. The commission approved applying for the funds in May.
In other business, the commission for the second time voted to apply for the next round of Community Development Block Grants. The first reading passed in December, but Danner said the Upper Cumberland Development District required it to be in resolution form.
If awarded, the county plans on purchasing 12 new pumper trucks for volunteer fire departments.
The commission also approved the transfer of a 2008 Chevy Truck from the Sheriff’s Department to the Highway Department.
