The Overton County Health and Rehab Center renovation project gets underway Monday.
OCHRC Public Information Officer Scott Stevens said the facility will have a new entrance while the work takes place.
“The original nursing home for Overton County will be demolished and we have new entrances. You will come in off the Bradford Hicks bypass to get to our new entrance,” Stevens said. “We are having to rearrange a little bit as we go through this process, but it has begun.”
OCHRC board members awarded the $6.2 million construction bid to Mid-State Construction late last year. Crews will build 20 private rehab suites for short-term rehabilitation treatment.
Stevens said preparations for demolition have gone smoothly.
“We’ve been able to rearrange some of our residence rooms and we converted those into office space,” Stevens said. “We’ve got everybody moving around to their new spaces and everything is falling into place just perfectly.”
The project will take about 18 months to complete.
