Overton Commission Purchases CPR Machines For Ambulance Service

The Overton County Ambulance Service will be receiving five new CPR machines.

The Overton County Commission approved the purchase Monday. County Executive Ben Danner said the county’s fourth phase of COVID money paid the cost.

“Jim Morgan, who has been Ambulance Director for a long time, he looked at the needs that we had at the ambulance service and how we could best use that money to serve the citizens of the county,” Danner said. “He felt like CPR machines on the ambulances would be good.”

Danner said the ambulance service currently has seven vehicles. Five within city limits, one at Hanging Limb and a spare. Danner said the machines will be located in an ambulance for use.

“Jim’s been in EMS for over 30 years and knows exactly what we need at the ambulance service,” Danner said. “We try to use budget money to buy stuff, but this is the one time we can use this COVID money. He felt like it would be the best bang for your buck.”

Danner said he anticipates the gear to come in a few months. “Everything is taking about twice as long as it did in the past to get,” Danner said.
