Overton Commission Appoints Interim Library Director, Hiring Search Begins

The Overton County Commission approved Terri Jordan to serve as interim director of the Millard Oakley Public Library.

County Executive Ben Danner said Jordan will operate as director until the library board finds a new candidate.

“Terri, she is not interested in doing the job,” Danner said. “But, she will help until somebody is hired. The library board, not the county commission library board, but the library board itself will be the one hiring and then bring that to the county court.”

Danner said Former Director Cynthia Julian-Simmons left the position for a higher paying job. Danner said, “I hate to see Cynthia go. She’s done us a good job over the years, but she’s bettering herself and making more money. So if anybody can better themselves somewhere, it is good that they can. She’s been a really good worker.”

Simmons served as director for some 12 years.
