Overton Ambulance Service Takes No Action On Double-Wide Trailer Bid

Overton County Ambulance Service waiting on the next steps after receiving one bid for a double-wide trailer.

Director Jim Morgan said the trailer would serve as additional office space for the building department to provide more room in the EMS service itself.

“We’ve kind of outgrown what we’re in,” Morgan said. “The building we’re in right now is over twenty years old and with the changes that you’ve seen in the region with some of the hospitals closing and having to add staff, we’re just kind of out of room a little bit.”

Morgan said the budget for the trailer was about $150,000, and the bid came in at about that much.

Morgan said that the budget committee did not take any action on the item because another project he was looking at concurrently came in way overbid. He said the department had budgeted about $330,000 for an ambulance service expansion project that would add bedrooms and storage space. Because that bid came in so high, Morgan said they decided to wait and see how to move forward with both projects at the next budget committee meeting.
