Overton After School Program Will Continue In 24-25

The Overton County Schools will not be terminating the system’s After School Program next year.

Those rumors spread after the system inadvertently missed a deadline to apply for grant funding. Director Of Schools Donnie Holman said the administration has been working to replace that funding.

“As soon as I was notified of this, I began to work to rectify the problem as quickly as possible,” Holman said. “The development of a contingency plan was my top priority. I also did not want to overly concern the community until I had done my best to find a solution to the issue.”

Holman said he and the board believe they have a resolution in place to continue the program for the 24-25 school year. Holman said the concern spready rapidly among some parents.

“I realize there has been a great deal of discussion regarding Overton County’s after school program for the upcoming school year,” Holman said. “We believe our after school program to be effective for our students and helpful to the parents and families of the community as well. It was never our intention to discontinue or stop the after school program.”
