Shots Fired Called Leaves One Dead In Monterey

The Putnam County Sheriff’s Department is working a homicide scene after one person is dead at the Monterey Solid Waste Processing Center.

Putnam County Sheriff Eddie Farris said they are questioning one person of interest. Farris said the department and Monterey PD responded to a shots fired call at 2730 Old Walton Road at roughly 2:30 PM on Saturday.

Farris said at this time the manner of death can not be confirmed before an autopsy by the medical examiner’s office. However, he said it appears the deceased individual was involved in the shooting.

He said the Tennessee Highway Patrol CIRT team is assisting with mapping the crime scene.
