NWS: F-1 Tornado Caused Damage In Hermitage Springs

National Weather Service Meteorologists found a F-1 tornado touched down in Clay County Saturday morning.

During a Monday assessment, meteorologists found the tornado stayed on the ground nearly six miles with a width of 75 yards.

The storm uprooted trees in Hermitage Springs just south of Highway 52. It then crossed the highway destroying four agricultural buildings. The storm moved northeast damaging trees and a roof. The tornado stayed on the ground roughly five minutes according to the assessment team with winds of 105 mph.

Another tornado touched down in Carthage and moved across the Cumberland River into Jackson County Saturday morning. Minor tree damage reported on Waynick Road. That storm was also an F-1.
