Clay and Pickett County Emergency Services are reporting no cases of major flood damage after about three inches of rain Sunday night.
EMA Director Kyle Haney said Clay County mainly had isolated cases of flooding.
“There was some localized flooding in our flood prone spots that we already have around Mitchell Street in downtown Celina,” Haney said. “And then on Wet Mill and Dry Mill Creek, where the river runs parallel to the roadway.”
Pickett County EMA Director Garry Garrett said low lying areas had increased water levels, but no major damage was reported. Neither county responded to calls of flooded homes or stuck vehicles.
Haney said water levels have since went down, and roads are clear. No trees were reported across roadways or power lines either.
“I just want to remind people as thunderstorm season comes up upon us just to make sure that they have a weather radio and make sure it is programmed and that it is on,” Haney said. “You can also download a weather app on your phone to get alerts from the National Weather Service.”
