New concrete barriers at Hermitage Springs School has helped to enhance safety.
Principal Christina McGee said the school’s playground sits very close to Highway 52 traffic. Only a fence serving as a barrier between the field and traffic.
“So they installed these concrete barriers so that if there was an accident or anything, that it would stop anything from coming over into the fence line,” McGee said. “Or on over into the field where the playground could be.”
McGee said there have been several comments about how good the barriers look at the front of the school. She said general feedback is that parents and faculty alike are happy the school system took that step.
McGee said the barriers were made possible by Board Member Nick Melton and Celina excavating contractor company TKM.
