Nearly 1,000 Lbs. Collected In Putnam Drug Take-Back

Power of Putnam Director Bill Gibson said the recent drug take back events were successful.

Power of Putnam sponsored six locations throughout the county, which collected some 333 pounds. Drop-boxes at law enforcement agencies collected another 600 pounds over the last few months, Gibson said.

“So it rounded off, what actually was picked up and destroyed after the take back, right at 1,000 pounds for Putnam County,” Gibson said.

The public is becoming more aware of the need to get rid of old medication and vitamins, he said.

“It gets a little better each time, I think more and more people are catching on to the purpose of it, we had a lot of volunteers and the sites were well manned, a lot of participation from the public which we appreciate,” Gibson said.

The Drug Enforcement Agency said more than 900,000 pounds nationwide.
