National Weather Service Place Middle Tennessee On Freeze Warning

Putnam County is under a freeze warning until Tuesday morning.

The warning went into effect Sunday at 1:30 p.m. from the National Weather Service, with temperatures between 24 and 32 degrees expected. The National Weather Service said frost and freeze conditions will kill crops, and other sensitive vegetation and possibly damage unprotected outdoor plumbing.

The National Weather Service recommends taking steps now to protect tender plants from the cold. To prevent freezing and possible bursting of outdoor water pipes they should be wrapped, drained, or allowed to drip slowly. Those that have in-ground sprinkler systems should drain them and cover above-ground pipes to protect them from freezing.
