Putnam County Sheriff Eddie Farris said multiple roads are blocked across the county Monday evening with trees down.
In Northern Putnam County, Farris reports Pine Valley Road, Miranda Road, Bob Lynn Road and Timber Trail Subdivision, off of Dodson Branch Road, all dealing with downed trees. In Western Putnam County, Shaw Branch Road, Carr Ridge Road, and Hopewell Road are among the areas with trees blocking road ways.
If you experience a power outage Monday night, call your utility. If trees fall, Farris said you can call the Sheriff’s Department for assistance.
“We’ll get out and do the best we can to keep anyone from running over having a hazard until those can be cleaned up and removed,” Farris said.
Farris said the best advice is stay at home. If you have to venture out, Farris said be cautious around your home.
“You certainly can have an accident getting to and from your vehicle, walking out driveways,” Farris said. “It’s certainly a danger for all of us and certainly a hazard for the elderly. So. Just be careful and try to stay in, if at all possible.”
Farris said the Sheriff’s Department will be happy to check on elderly residents that you might be concerned about Monday night and Tuesday morning.
