The White County School Board has renewed a lease with Motlow State Community College to continue hosting college courses on the high school’s campus.
Director of School Kurt Dronebarger said a five-year agreement signed to use the facility on the corner of Roosevelt Drive and Robert Knight Drive.
“We’re just recommitting to that partnership and letting them know that White County is committed to working with Motlow State and providing post-secondary opportunities for our high school students and for folks that maybe want to go back to school in our community.”
Dronebarger said the community college has freely used the facility for the past 12 years. Dronebarger said a mixture of classes such as English composition and EMT training are held there.
“We continue to expand that catalog of courses and those opportunities,” Dronebarger said. “We’ve also offered up our campus in the evenings for Motlow and TCAT to teach courses.”
Dronebarger said the proximity to the high school allows students to walk to college courses during school.
