More than 2,000 UCEMC customers across Putnam County were brought back online Thursday evening.
That’s according to County Mayor Randy Porter. Porter said crews worked into the darkness to try to resolve power outage numbers that had crept up Thursday because of snow on power lines.
Crews continued work Thursday evening in the Boma and Silver Point areas.
Crews were able to get power back on along Hilham Road to Post Oak Road in areas around Cookeville High School. Many of these areas had been out since Monday. Crews also continued progress on Thursday evening along Buck Mountain Road where some of the worst damage in the Upper Cumberland had been reported. Restorations took place Thursday evening on parts of parts of Parragon Rd, Mountain Top Lane, Falling Water Road and on Brotherton Mountain Rd.
Porter said the outage number in Putnam County stands at around 3,000 as of Thursday evening. He reiterated that UCEMC said it could be several more days until all power is restored in the county.
“They have a lot of great men and women working on the outages from many different power companies and they are doing the best they can,” Porter said.
Precipitation has ended until likely Sunday. Temperatures will likely remain below freezing for the the next 36 hours. However, sunshine Friday would aid the work of crews.
Two shelters remain open in Putnam County.
