More Cumberland Residents Gets High Speed Access

More high speed internet access on the way to Cumberland County.

A new $1.9 million grant announced Thursday will provide fiber access to 152 people, 33 farms and one business in Cumberland County. Ben Lomand will help connect improved access in the southern part of the county.

It is the third broadband grant for Cumberland County since COVID-19 began.

The Reconnect Program will also fund a separate 2.2 million dollar grant to connect homes in Smith County. The Dekalb Telephone Cooperative will be using that grant to connect areas in Smith County.

The Trump Administration announced Thursday that the USDA is investing $17 million for broadband service in Tennessee. These investments are part of the $550 million Congress allocated to the second round of the ReConnect Program. This second round of grants enable USDA to put in new solutions for increasing rural connectivity.
