A firework show will return to Monterey for the first time since 2013.
Alderman Nathan Walker said residents for several years have asked for the Independence Day celebration comeback.
“We were actually approached with an opportunity of a potential event that would coincide with having a firework display,” Walker said. “It just so happens it’s just outside the Monterey city limits.”
Walker said the town has partnered with a local land owner for the event. Walker said details cannot be shared at this time, but it will provide parking and a viewing area of the show.
Walker said the firework show is tentatively planned for July 1st. The Board of Aldermen invested $15,000 into the display on last week.
